My birthday is in October and this provided a perfect weekend trip to celebrate with my son and daughter. Our first stop was at the Hoosier Candle Company in Dayton.  What a cute little shop and so many great smelling candles!  It was hard to choose!

Next we had lunch at the popular (judging by the crowd) Trish’s Redbird Cafe. We enjoyed the food as well as the decor!

After fueling up we headed out to Exploration Acres to get lost in the corn maze!  My daughter also enjoyed the corn crib and mining for gems! Feeling a little tired, we checked in to the Homewood Suites by Hilton to rest up and get ready for the evening. The staff was very personable and the room was nice and clean.

We ordered pizza from Bruno’s Big O’s Sportsroom and took it back to the hotel since the dining room is closed on the weekends. But it was still delicious!

For the finale, we went downtown to the Long Center for the Performing Arts to see LeAnn Rimes in concert.  I didn’t realize how many hit songs she has had! Plus she is an engaging performer and the historic venue was beautiful.

The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel with plenty of food to choose from.  Finally  before driving home, we visited Prophetstown State Park and walked the scarecrow trail on a bright, crisp fall morning. It was a perfect fall getaway but we still have so many gift cards left to use. So we will be back in the spring to enjoy more of what Lafayette has to offer!
