Need a gluten-free treat?! Lafayette-West Lafayette is home to some amazing places that offer treats for all different types of allergies.

As someone who has recently been diagnosed with celiac disease, I was worried about how I was going to satisfy my sweet tooth.

My fears were assuaged, however, when I returned to college and discovered these gluten-free gems nestled in Greater Lafayette. I’m sharing five of my favorites so you can enjoy them, too.

Purdue University Student, Julia Blandford shares this blog. This blog is part of a series of articles submitted to Visit Lafayette-West Lafayette through a cooperation with a 400-level travel writing class at Purdue University.

The Sweet Revolution Bake Shop has many celiac-friendly options, including gluten-free key lime pie and my personal favorite: vanilla bean cheesecake with berries.

Everything behind the bakery counter at Rose Market is gluten-free, which is noted at the front of the store. Some donuts are also dairy-free and vegan as well.

I tried the pumpkin spice muffin, dragon-fruit donut, blueberry donut, and chocolate donut. All were so fluffy and delightful that it was hard to believe that they didn’t have gluten in them. I was able to split the baked goods and share among my friends without worrying about cross-contamination.

Within Rose Market are gluten-free, prepackaged goods for sale.

Eating a Miss Sugar’s ice cream in front of the shop’s Instagrammable rose-covered wall is a fun thing to do with friends.

What makes Miss Sugar stand out from your typical ice cream place is that it has a variety of toppings to choose from, many of which are gluten free. This gives the customer the ability to customize their dessert to their own liking, rather than being limited to what’s on the menu.

I used to work in as a waitress in a tea room, and if there’s anything I miss about my life pre-diagnosis, it’s being able to eat blueberry scones. So, of course, I had to stop by Scones & Doilies to grab a gluten-free blueberry scone for myself.

The scone was freshly-made and flavorful, with the sourness of the blueberries contrasting beautifully with the sweetness of the dough.

The shop, adorned with a rug and various plants on the windowsill, is a warm and inviting atmosphere as well. This spot provided not only a perfect gluten-free treat, but also a perfect brunch date with my gal pals.

Mango Mango was the exact opposite vibe. I was greeted with bright lights and a shop filled with red, heart-shaped pillows and polaroids adorning the walls. The menu features a variety of ice cream flavors, including coconut, mango, and chocolate strawberry.

The menu also provides a list of what is gluten-free and what isn’t, which put my mind at ease because I knew exactly what was in the ice cream I was eating.

Even though all of these desserts are gluten-free, they are made for everyone to enjoy!
