The Village

The Village, also known as Chauncey Village, is the heart of the campus life in the area near Purdue University.  The name “Chauncey” comes from the original settlement founded here in 1866. In 1888, the town adopted the name “West Lafayette”. This district caters to visitors, students and alumni with an emphasis on Purdue traditions and memorabilia, great nightlife, shopping and a fun college atmosphere. Most of the historic buildings in The Village were built in the early 1900s.
