Whether you’re planning a weekend staycation or visiting from out of town, this itinerary offers the perfect blend of local flavor, creativity, outdoor exploration and community charm. The best part? Every stop supports local businesses and offers something all ages can enjoy.
Here’s how to spend a beautiful spring day (and night) in Lafayette and West Lafayette.
Day 1
Breakfast: Fuel Up at Smittybread
Start your morning at Smittybread, a beloved local bakery known for its artisan breads and pastries. My order is typically a warm almond croissant and a fresh coffee to fuel the day! Be sure to explore their rotating selection of seasonal pastries and breads. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming and the perfect way to ease into a spring morning.
Morning Activity: Get Creative at All Fired Up in West Lafayette, IN
Spring is about trying something new and Greater Lafayette makes that easy! We loved painting pottery at All Fired Up!, where all ages can design their own keepsake. This experience was hands-on, memorable and is perfect for families, couples or friend groups.

Lunch: A Lafayette Classic, Akropolis
Head to Akropolis for lunch, a longtime local favorite serving authentic Greek cuisine. We ordered fresh gyros, a warm pita with hummus and their baklava which made a satisfying midday break. It’s casual, welcoming and a staple in the community dining scene.

Afternoon: Explore the Celery Bog Nature Area and Lilly Nature Center in West Lafayette, IN
After lunch, take advantage of spring sunshine at the Celery Bog Nature Area. This peaceful nature preserve offers walking trails, wildlife sightings and scenic views. In some spaces, it’s stroller-friendly, family-friendly and ideal for stretching your legs. We absolutely love their Lilly Nature Center which is full of hands on activities and educational exhibits!

Sweet Stop: Westside Scoops in West Lafayette
No spring itinerary is complete without ice cream! Stop by Westside Scoops for a cone, cup or milkshake. Whether you prefer classic flavors or something creative, this locally loved spot is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up.

Check-In: Relax at TownePlace Suites in West Lafayette
If you’re making it a weekend getaway, check into TownePlace Suites by Marriott in West Lafayette. It's conveniently located and comfortable for families or extended stays, making it an easy home base while you explore both sides of the river. Bonus, this is not too far from Cason Family Park which offers walking paths and trails, a fishing/kayaking pond, nature inspired playgrounds and beautiful scenery!

Dinner: A True Local Favorite, Bruno's
For dinner, head to Bruno's, a longtime Purdue-area favorite known for Italian classics and warm hospitality.
It’s the kind of place that feels nostalgic and welcoming, perfect for celebrating a great day out! You can watch them make the pizzas which is fun for all ages. PS, I highly recommend ordering Bruno Dough!

Evening Activity: Relax!
Keep the night going with a memorable experience back at the hotel if you're staying! Townplace Suites offers outdoor seating and fire pits where you can relax and get cozy....or head to the comfy room to rest.
Day Two
Brunch to Close It Out - Brunch at Café Literato
Before heading home, grab brunch at Café Literato. This place is known for thoughtful coffee drinks and creative brunch and lunch options from salads, sandwiches, pizzas and more. Everyone can satisfy their hunger here! It’s a cozy way to wrap up your stay.

Greater Lafayette offers that rare mix of creativity, nature, dining and community connection, all within minutes of each other. Spring is the perfect time to rediscover it. So whether you’re visiting for the first time or seeing your hometown with fresh eyes, there’s always something new to enjoy here!
