Leave the Long Drive Behind

Let's start with the obvious benefit: LAF is right here in Greater Lafayette.

Travel days are too valuable to spend sitting in interstate traffic. Instead, you can spend that time relaxing at home, packing your suitcase, or grabbing one last coffee before you leave. The airport is just minutes from home!

Parking Is Refreshingly Simple

If you've ever parked at a major airport, you know the routine. Giant parking garages or multiple lots, crowded shuttle buses, and trying to remember exactly where you left your car makes travel days less-than-relaxing.

When you fly LAF, things are much simpler.

Parking is convenient and located right next to the terminal, meaning you can park, grab your bags, and head inside without adding extra steps to your travel day. No shuttle buses. No long walks. No wondering if you're in the right spot.

Skip the Airport Marathon

Large airports certainly can have their advantages, but convenience isn't always one of them.

Flying from LAF means you can enjoy an airport experience that's easy to navigate from start to finish. You'll spend less time walking through crowded terminals and more time focusing on your trip.

The streamlined experience is especially appreciated by families traveling with children, business travelers on tight schedules, and anyone who would rather spend less time waiting in line and more time getting where they're going.

The Best Part? Coming Home

Here's the thing most people don't think about when booking a flight: eventually, you'll have to come home.

After a long day of travel, delayed flights, and carrying luggage through airports, the last thing anyone wants is a lengthy drive back from Indianapolis or Chicago.

When you land at Purdue University Airport, you're close to home. Collect your bags, walk to your car, and head home. No lengthy road trip required.

Pro Tip: When comparing flight options, don't forget to factor in the time, gas, parking, and stress of driving to a larger airport. Sometimes the easiest travel day starts with choosing the airport that's right here in your community.

Personal local experience: I traveled through Purdue for a work trip recently and was amazed by how quick and easy it was. The timing of the flights and the pricing were perfect for me. I was able to leave around 10:30 in the morning which is great for this night owl and returned around 7pm, perfect for getting home in time to see my kids and put them to bed. Parking was super easy. You are able to park in park mobile spots almost directly outside the door to the terminal for $5 a day and controlled by an app on my phone. I could see the plane when I got in and out of my car and only had to walk about 35 steps to get into the terminal. Amazing!

This is great as a single traveler, but I was imagining the whole time how huge of a perk this would be if I was traveling with my kids and all of their gear!  I was traveling with just carry-on luggage, but the counter is right inside the door had I needed to check luggage. I instead went on to security which was impressive. All the same things you see at large airports but NO LINE! Whoo-hoo! I walked right through and was through security in less than 5 minutes. Then I had plenty of time to hit the restroom, check email, catch up on the news, etc. before boarding. I got to the airport about 9:30am and was parked, in the airport, through security and at the gate in just a few minutes. It was fabulous!

Boarding was seamless also, you do walk outside to get on the plane and it’s a smaller plane so my carry-on sized roller bag had to be gate checked and put under the plane but they came around and gave us tags and I just handed it to them outside, then I saw them load it on the plane. Take off and the flight were wonderful. I landed in Chicago in about 25 minutes, was handed my luggage on the jet bridge right outside the airplane and went on to the gate for my next flight. My return flight was just as wonderful, my gate checked luggage was ready for me and I was off the plane and in my car in about 5 minutes and home 10 minutes after that. It was a fabulous experience! I can’t wait to fly through LAF again! - Ashley Gregory
