Lilly Nature Center at the Celery Bog Nature Area

The Celery Bog Nature Area is open dawn to dusk, with no admission charge. It contains 4.3 miles of paved trails and 2.5 miles of natural paths through the woods, savanna and prairie. Many sections of these trails take you right beside the marsh. Interpretive signs, audio informational units and three observation decks are associated with these trails to make your hikes more enjoyable. Celery Bog has been recognized as one of the top 5 locations in the state of Indiana to observe migratory birds. Bicycling is permitted only on the paved trails. Fishing, boating, and swimming is not permitted in the marsh. Usage of drones for recreation or photography is not permitted in the Celery Bog Nature Area.
This 195 acre property is home to the Lilly Nature Center. This facility, with no admission charge, provides an opportunity for youth and adults to experience nature and learn more about the environment around them. It also provides an excellent field trip destination for schools, youth groups and university classes.
The Nature Center is open 10:00 am – 5:00 pm Wed – Sat and 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on Sun. The Center is closed on various holidays.
The Nature Center contains a bird observation area, a children's activity area, educational displays and exhibits, and more!
Remember to respect the environment and other park patrons by following these rules:- Refrain from fishing, boating, ice-skating, or swimming in the marshlands
- Clean up after your dog and carry out all potty bags if a trashcan is not nearby.
- Please, don't tie them in trees or toss them on the ground No drones
- Call ahead for all large visiting groups, such as daycares, schools, etc.
- No selling or soliciting on property, unless granted Park Board approval
Nature-related programs are regularly held in the Nature Center. Some of these include the Wednesdays in the Wild, Sycamore Audubon Society, and Indiana Native Plant Society (INPS).
The Lilly Nature Center may be rented for educational purposes. Contact the West Lafayette Parks and Recreation office at (765) 775-5110
