If you’re on your way to People’s, per our recommendation, and you find yourself distracted by a hankering for a breakfast or burger, we can help! Turn left instead of right and try out the Tick Tock Tavern where it’s been beer thirty since 1947.

The menu has breakfast, lunch, and dinner served alllll day. If you’re the kinda guy that requires a chicken dinner at 6am this is for you! If you’re the kinda gal that likes pancakes at 10pm this is for you! If you like a place where you can watch a game, drink a beer, and get your eggs over easy then this is for you!

Tick Tock Tavern Inside

Linda fearlessly started the ordering frenzy with the fried shrimp basket. The shrimp was succulent, well battered, and crispy and the fries were plentiful and well seasoned.

Kay ordered the patty melt served with fries. It was delicious! A smashburger delight, she really enjoyed the thin nature of the  patties with the grilled onions and Swiss. The bread was  grilled and buttered, but not overly greasy like patty melts can be! The fries are nicely seasoned and the perfect coupling with the melt.

New Jerry, or Danny if you want to call him by his legal name wore many hats today taking the place of both Jerry and Iseral. Also, he was rocking a Pabst hat which caught my eye immediately! New Jerry knows his way around the menu and carefully selected the Reuben burger with onion rings. The Reuben burger is an actual party. They combined both sandwiches to make a super sandwich! It’s layered like a lasagna and flavored to the max! The onion rings were pleasantly crispy and paired perfectly with the sandwich-ception that was a sandwich within a sandwich.

Vegan Queen Margy got her jollies with a BLT minus the bacon, obviously. Around here we call this a tomato sandwich, which is the bomb.com when Indiana tomatoes are in season and they are. This usually wouldn’t seem very exciting but it really was beautiful! The tomato in question looks to be a gorgeous heirloom and it was sandwiched in green leaf lettuce as opposed to iceberg which really churched it up.

Ken sold me on the special of the day, fried perch with both mac and cheese and coleslaw but I don’t date order it lest he want it first. I needed a fat juicy burger today to balance the 900 hotdogs I ate in celebration of the 4th of July, so that’s what I did. My sophisticated palate requires my fries be waffled in nature, and praise be, that’s an option here in this oasis. My burger was dressed to the nines and amazing in nature. They topped it with a healthy pile of pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions which makes it feel as fresh and crisp as a burger can feel.  Reminiscent of a smash burger, the patty isn’t too thick which is how I like my burger. And the waffle fries were so crispy I can still hear the crunch in my brain. Gahhh. That really hit the spot! If you like to indulge your fries in a swim, I do highly recommend the house made ranch!

Jo got a cheese omelette and denied entry of any potatoes or toast to her section of the table. I do appreciate her addition of both guac and salsa, which makes it feel like a party. She wolfed that sucker down faster than I could get a good look at it! The level of cheese was more than anticipated and a welcome surprise, and the salsa was the perfect blend of spices and flavors!

Guess what Ken got! The perch with mac and slaw. You’re welcome again, Ken! Mac and cheese and coleslaw together have always been a power couple in my eyes, and I can’t wait to see if they tick in tock like I think they should. Ken was the only one who got a divided plate, but my goodness his meal looked so good! The mac and cheese looked like something I want to dive into and eat my way out of. I noticed he didn’t put his coleslaw in it, which was a weird choice, but to each his own. He really took the boundaries of that plate seriously as he worked his way around. The coleslaw and mac and cheese both had that homemade sass we all know and love.

We couldn’t actually leave without trying the cheesecake of the month! This month’s was red, white, and blueberry. It boasts a sturdy foundation of crunchy graham cracker crust, rich and decadent cheesecake with blueberries, a layer of white chocolate, and a drizzling of strawberry sauce! It knocked our socks off. Go to there and get some!

If you’re craving some deep fried, home cooked food in your belly you should check it out. Only one of us opted for the breakfast, and we all wish we could’ve had both. We have no choice but to come back, and maybe we’ll see you there!
