Wabash Walls Mural
724 Wabash Avenue, Lafayette, IN 47905
The Arts Federation has partnered with the City of Lafayette and their Office of Development, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lafayette, the Wabash Avenue Neighborhood Association, and the Tippecanoe County Public Library to develop and implement Street Art Paint Out. This is a hybrid of TAF’s Mural Art Initiative which is a collaborative, educational outreach program that brings together communities and underserved populations. By engaging artists, stakeholders such as building owners, and young people, the program shows how public art can unite communities and activate spaces. This effort will rebrand and cause economic and community development to occur in the Wabash Avenue Neighborhood. Area students and residents of Wabash Avenue will work in tandem with several artists to design and execute the murals throughout the neighborhood. Members of the Neighborhood have developed themes which will be rendered into a mural design by one of the participating artists. As facilitator and lead administrator, TAF will work with the property owners and other stakeholders to present these designs for acceptance.
