Weather permitting, the Wabash Valley Astronomical Society (WVAS) will host a free public stargazing event from 8:30-10:00 p.m. on October 5 at the West Lafayette Observatory, 600 Cumberland Ave, W. Lafayette. Astronomical telescopes will be used to view celestial objects such as star clusters, galaxies, asterisms, and nebulae. Constellations will also be pointed out. A presentation about spectroscopy will be given even if the sky is mostly cloudy. Parking is available in front of the West Lafayette Elementary School.
Prior to the stargazing event, the WVAS monthly open meeting will be held at the West Lafayette Observatory from 7-8:30 p.m. A presentation will be given along with astronomy news and general discussion. Anyone is welcome to attend this free event.
