Celebrating 100 years of the Hoosier Art Salon. A group of women known as the Daughters of Indiana organized the first Hoosier Salon in Chicago in 1925, to build interest in the work of Indiana artists. Having artwork juried into the Hoosier Salon was - and still is - considered an honor. Most of the paintings in the exhibition are from the Salon's early years in Chicago, mostly before 1953, and over half of them won prizes at the Salon. "Path to the River" by Estelle Peel Izor was in the first Hoosier Salon in 1925. Thanks to Visit Lafayette-West Lafayette for their generous support.
