Why do we manage the prairies at Prophetstown with fire? What is “prescribed” burning? Join a naturalist as we explore the science of fire and learn about its importance in the environment. You’ll even get the chance to try on some fire gear and handle a few tools of the trade. Meet at the campground campfire circle.
For all programs:
Bug spray, sunscreen, and a full water bottle are recommended.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
All programming free with park admission unless otherwise noted. All times are Eastern.
Campground programs are also open to the public—park at the campground gate and walk in.
Follow the paved lane lined with tiki torches directly to the right of the campground playground to access the campground campfire circle.
