Exhibit December 20, 2019- October 31, 2020
Purdue is known throughout the world as an Agriculture and Engineering institution, and noted for its astronauts and Nobel Prize winners. The campus is also the home to the Department of Art and Design in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts. The department has worked its way from Matthews Hall, and the World War II barracks buildings, into a facility designed especially for it in the recently constructed Yue-Kong Pao Hall. All along, the art faculty has been producing museum worthy artworks and mentoring students ready to take their place in the field of creative arts.
The Art Museum is proud to have a selection of works in its permanent collection by distinguished Purdue art faculty, dating from Laura Ann Fry, a designer for Rookwood Pottery, a founder of the Lafayette Art Association, and head of Industrial Arts at Purdue, retiring in 1922, to Charles Gick, the first recipient of the Purdue University Affiliated Fellowship at the American Academy in Rome and currently a professor In the Department of Art and Design at Purdue. The work in this exhibition showcases brilliant examples of various mediums that include colored pencil, acrylic, oil, lithography, photography, weaving, and ceramics.
PLEASE NOTE: The museum is now open to visitors on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and requires free advance ticket registration for entry to the galleries. See our website for tickets and more information, under the VISIT tab.
