The College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) DEI Science Consortium will host a screening of ‘The Fight for Black Lives’ with filmmaker Micere Keels, followed by a panel discussion. Keels , a University of Chicago professor, has spent the past 25 years working on a range of policy and practice issues related to racial and socioeconomic inequality. Her research focuses on understanding how race, ethnicity and poverty structure exposure to challenges that place people at risk for poor life outcomes. “The Fight for Black Lives” chronicles the ways that racial stress and the American healthcare system disadvantages the health of Black Americans.
