Cheers to 200 years, Lafayette! Watch history come to life as the Bicentennial celebration unfolds! 🎥

In 2025, Lafayette, Indiana, is celebrating its 200th birthday with a year-long bicentennial celebration featuring events for all ages from January through December! The festivities began in January with a special tribute to our founder, William Digby, followed by monthly activities that showcase Lafayette’s rich history, including school programs, historic tours, and art exhibits.

Founded on May 25, 1825, the city will mark this milestone with family-friendly events at Columbian Park throughout Memorial Day weekend. Experience afternoon teas and special gatherings at historic sites like the Haan Museum and Duncan Hall where the stories of Lafayette’s past will come to life.

The celebration continues with June’s Bicentennial Costume Ball and a July film festival honoring Lafayette native and Academy Award-winning director Sydney Pollack. In September, on the birthday of Revolutionary War hero General Marquis de Lafayette—the city’s namesake—the City of Lafayette will unveil a commissioned bicentennial monument.

The year will conclude with a fall harvest corn maze, the annual Feast of the Hunters’ Moon, and the Lafayette Christmas Parade, celebrating our community’s past, present, and future.
