Bell Tower ERINWeekend Update! Arts and entertainment at Purdue University are rocking this weekend! Looking for a fun Indiana weekend getaway? Or do you live in this area and are looking for entertainment close by? Check out the endless possibilities for fun events happening this upcoming weekend in Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana. The Purdue spring semester is coming to en end, and it is time to celebrate with music! The Purdue Bands & Orchestras Showcase Spectacular will be showcasing 13 ensembles in 3 days; April 25-27! On Friday, April 25, at Elliott Hall of Music check out the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band with Purdue Jazz Band and a tambourine ensemble. Guest conductor Julie Giroux will feature one of her compositions with Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. The following evening at Elliott Hall of Music, the Collegiate, Varsity, and Concert Bands with American Music Repertory Ensemble and Cupula Cups will bring the crowds to their feet. Guest conductor Julie Giroux will feature one of her compositions with each of the concert bands. Lastly, but not least, on Sunday, April 27, the Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 and Symphony Orchestra will perform Sebalius’s Finlandia. This concert, taking place at Elliott Hall of Music, will also feature two student soloists and a guest conductor. Enjoy a celebration of the African American culture through rhythm, dance, and movement at the Jahari Dance Troupe Spring Revue on April 26 at the Loeb Playhouse at Purdue University. The Jahari Dance Troupe will perform energetic, original pieces encompassing lyrical, jazz, ballet and African styles. This performance will leave guests energized and ready to embrace the spring.
