This festival, taking place October 5 & 6, is jam packed with delicious food, entertainment, shopping and history.  Enjoy browsing the food booths where most items are cooked over an open fire.  From homemade French onion soup, ginormous apple dumplings, to an herbed pork chop, visitors cannot go wrong.  Browse the tents selling homemade soaps, toys, clothing and more.  Best of all, watch as thousands of participants re-enact the annual fall gathering of the French and Native American which took place at Fort Ouiatenon, a fur-trading outpost in the mid 1700s. Enjoy another historic event this weekend!  On Saturday, October 5, do not miss a visit to the Historic Downtown Lafayette Farmers Market, which has been taking place since 1839.  Vendors selling fresh fall produce, flowers, candies, cookies, and more line 5th street, downtown Lafayette.  Fall brings pumpkins and bright colored mums that are awaiting your purchase!  Fall squash, apples, peppers, and cabbage are just a few of the delightful vegetables available.  Along 5th street, people stroll and enjoy the crisp air as they shop and take part in an event that has been taking place for over 150 years!
