It's one of my favorite childhood favorite stories and is a classic, "Charlotte's Web"! The Civic Youth Theatre Present: "Charlotte's Web" this weekend, Friday, November 15 through Sunday, November 17. The Children's Literature Association named this "the best American children's book of the past two hundred years." Adapted for the stage by Joseph Robinette, all the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher, Fern, Templeton, the Zuckerman family, the Arables, and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be "a true friend and a good writer." Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the "miracle" of her web in which she writes, "Some pig." It's the beginning of a victorious campaign, which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte.
Live on stage, this Saturday, November 16, is the artist, Jonathan Richman, presented by Friends of Bob! His music embodies timeless qualities of humanity, optimism, emotional insight and a boundless sense of humor. Over the years, Jonathan's music has absorbed a multitude of influences, from doo-wop to country to a variety of international styles, without sacrificing this effervescent personality. Check out his performance at Lafayette Brewing Company for a night of great music, humor and delicious food!
