Summer fun has hit our area and a must see attraction is the Farm at Prophetstown in West Lafayette, Indiana. Home to chickens, pigs, cows, horses and more, this farm will bring smiles to your face and enjoyment for all.
The Farm at Prophetstown is a real working farm! The livestock enjoy a beautiful, healthy farm/free range setting and crops are grown to be used to feed them throughout the year. Barn chores are done each day at 8 am and 3 pm and everyone is invited – especially children – to help in feeding the livestock, collecting eggs, and working in the garden.
This summer a plethora of special events are taking place at the farm from ice cream socials to specialty 5 course farm dinners to prairie parties. Their farm dinners are amazing! In June they featured a meal including smoked baby back ribs, sweet corn chowder, tomato basil tower, garlic beef tenderloin and a puff pastry with raspberries. The baby back ribs just fell off the bone and melted in my mouth! (Please note they have a vegetarian option also.) For a complete list of events check out the Farm's Facebook page.
The animals- as we shared, yes, this is a working farm. Check out these adorable farm animal photos. Share with us your favorite pic!!
Please note: admission to grounds is included in the state park entrance gate fee. For more information about the farm and other attractions in our area, please visit www.HomeofPurdue.com.
