Join the fun this Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 at the Native American Village for fun activities including wildflower walks, animal talks about the wildlife of 200 years ago, games, meet Buddy Bison, and more during the Prophetstown Village Weekend.  On Saturday, June 29, Jessica and Mark Eaton from “Woodland Indian Educational Programs” will be showing off their building skills at the village.  They’ll be finishing up the wigwam and then starting on the shade shelter and cooking hearth.  Lend them a hand and learn how you can build these same structures in your backyard.  You’ll also be able to tour the council house, medicine lodge, chief’s cabin, granary, and more! Fourth of July is nearly here, and this weekend the Ninth Street Historic District is starting the celebration off right during the "Children's Box Parade and 4th of July Festival" on Saturday, June 29. All kids are invited to decorate a box (or boxes) to wear, push or pull. (No wheels please! Strollers & wheelchairs are okay.) Parents may march too! Sing the Star Spangle Banner, watch a real flag raising and enjoy free ice cream, an animal petting zoo, face painting, balloons & more!  Also, don't miss walking around the Ninth Street Historic District, which will be patriotically decorated.
