Some of you may remember the past lives of the Scott Street Pub. For many moons, it served the people as Tom’s Parkside Deli. Once they abandoned ship, it transformed into Parkside Seafood and Oyster house for just a short span of time. A few years ago it found a new version of itself as the Scott Street Pub.

This place has maybe one of the best patios in town and allows dogs on Wednesdays throughout the patio permitting seasons. It’s easy to see the same faces upon entry as they have a small staff and a steady following of neighborhood regulars, but the captivating scent of the house cut meats smoking can lure anybody in! It’s basically a siren song, really.

Jerry got the chili cheese dog with chips, which sounds just perfect on a hot summer day, which it is not. Nevertheless, he chose an American classic! Good for you, Jerry! I also promised that I would not mention him angrily throwing his glass of water all over Ken, nor would I mention alllll of the chaos that followed. I’ll just say that we may never be allowed back in there, and honestly I would understand. I usually wouldn’t be impressed with a chili cheese dog, but this was quite a sight to behold! Jerry loved it so much he even called it “game day good!”

Kay followed my orders and opted for the fried chicken sandwich tossed in their house made hot honey sauce with chips, which I maintain is the best chicken sandwich I’ve ever had! Let me tell you, it is soooo satisfying to watch someone have their mind blown by this chicken sammie. She’s thick, juicy, sauced up, and ready to party!

After dreaming of this burger since the first time I had it, we were blissfully and passionately reunited. I’m yapping about the blue jam burger, and it’s nothing short of magical. I lost my way for a while and was distracted by the fish and chips and their amazing salads, but now I’m back and beefier than ever! This bad boi is slathered in blue cheese, tomato jam, and bacon and it is to die for!

Ken always wants what I have, but since he ordered last he couldn’t sabotage me this round! He definitely didn’t lose with the pastrami though. This thing was “the real deal”. They smoke their meats in house, and stack ‘em up fancy with provolone and a marble rye bread! Ken was not mad about this guy. I dare say he was even over the moon about it!

Linda sampled the fried shrimp with a side of garlic aioli and the minestrone soup, which were both on the list of daily specials. She muttered something about it being delicious in between spoonfuls, and her behavior confirms this theory. The shrimp was crispy, crunchy, and flavorful on its own, but I recommend tossing everything in one of their house-made sauces.

Jo got a chocolate-chocolate chip cookie topped with caramel sauce and served warm. Droooooool. She only had good things to say about it. After, the rest of us got our platters she added on a side of the house made coleslaw which is super creamy and extra garlicky for added excitement and balance, of course. We also need you to know that they have that good ice, you know, the tiny little ice balls? Pebbles? Whatever you want to call them, you know what I’m talking about. Jo also noted that she usually requires lemon with her tea and theirs is so good she didn’t even add any!

Tetia got the catfish platter with fries and coleslaw which is served boneless and breaded. “It was sooo good!” Their cornmeal batter is light and crunchy compared to a heavy beer batter. The combination of crunchy outside and flavorful inside with their spicy ketchup is just….*chef’s kiss*

Iseral got the all American burger with fries. It can only be described as all American cheesy and the coupling of the burger, cheese, and red onion made for a really fun time. All of the burgers are 1/3 pound of juicy, flavorful goodness served on soft buttery buns of joy.

Those of us that know, got the fries instead of chips. They have really really great fries! They’re super peppery, crispy, and so good that I’ve been known to tack on  a side of fries with my salads.
