Weekend Update!  Looking for a fun Indiana weekend getaway? Or do you live in this area and are looking for entertainment close by? Check out the endless possibilities for fun (and legendary!) events happening this upcoming weekend in Lafayette-West Lafayette, Indiana. Make legendary memories at the annual Purdue Bug Bowl!  The annual Bug Bowl is the largest known insect event of its kind. Nearly 30,000 people attend this event each year as part of Purdue's Spring Fest weekend taking place April 13 and 14. Preschoolers through retirees take part in numerous hands-on insect activities including the cricket spitting contest and cockroach racing at Roachill Downs.  The cricket spitting contest is where memories are made because there is nothing funnier than watching your friends spit a cricket as far as possible.  It is hilarious!  Also, do not miss running or walking at the Challenge 5K Run/Walk, benefitting the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research, on Saturday, April 13. Purdue will be a "legendary" place this weekend! Watch the legendary legend, Robin Hood, in a never-ending quest to aid the needy at the Lafayette Civic Theatre this Friday, April 12 through Sunday, April 14.  The Lafayette Civic Youth Theatre will perform this comedy that will leave visitors laughing with delight.  This show is full of flavorful characters: lovely damsel-in-distress (oddly obsessed with skin conditions); an ever-scheming sheriff who would rather bowl a strike than hit a bull's-eye; a gold-hoarding, bad-guy monarch wannabe; and a good-natured "Town's Guy" who manages to make his way into every scene, whether he belongs there or not. Combine them with an expandable band of spoon-wielding Merry Men whose collective IQs equal six, and you are in for an irreverent jaunt through Sherwood Forest.
