Happening Now! Right now, the talk around town is about all the special holidays coming up the next few months! Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day will be here before we know it and we recommend getting reservations now for one of Lafayette's top holiday (and Sunday) brunch destinations, the Trails Banquet Facility! Serving everything from crepes and omelets made to order, prime rib, ham and turkey carving stations, and a dessert bar that makes my mouth water thinking about it; the Trails offers a fresh, delicious meal.
With Easter coming up this week, it has made me nostalgic of past Easter celebrations at the Trails. My husband's family has a tradition of going out for brunch after church service on Easter. Our first Easter brunch as a couple was at the Trails. It was a momentous event not only for the food, but I met some of his cousins for the first time. Meeting family members for the first time can be a bit nerve racking, but thankfully we were so excited to enjoy the delicious food it kept the conversation easy and light!
Wow, did we enjoy the food! The ham (which is an Easter must-have!) was juicy, tender with the perfect bit of saltiness. Add their creamy mashed potatoes, sweet carrots (some of the best carrots I have ever eaten!), a garden salad made with the freshest vegetables and a mimosa; let the enjoyment begin! And this is only a small portion of what they offer. My husband always gets an omelet loaded with his favorites; ham, bacon, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheddar cheese and salsa. He loads his plate up with the light and fluffy biscuits smothered in gravy along with corned beef hash, assorted cheese and pasta salad. (Odd combination, but he loves it!)
Did I mention the dessert? Diners cannot go home without trying one of their crepes they cook right in front of you! I always get my favorite flavor, cherry, but they also offer blueberry and apple. Their dessert bar includes bread pudding, cobblers, cinnamon rolls, assorted cheesecakes, assorted pies, assorted cakes, cookies, ice cream, and sugar free desserts. There is something for everyone or should I say "somethings" as I never leave without tasting a few desserts!
With all these fun holidays on the horizon, make sure you call the Trails for a reservation. They book up quickly! Please note their Easter hours are 9:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.
