After a long day of practice with Purdue baseball, and with my family being in town, I knew where I wanted to go to get good food, have a great experience, and a nice visit. My parents are unfamiliar with spots to eat in West Lafayette, so Walt’s Pub and Grill was the ideal spot for them to get a taste of what there is to offer. Walt’s menu, beverages, menu specials, atmosphere, and entertainment are just a few reasons why you should go to Walt’s, too.
Menu:
One thing that caught my eye on the appetizer side of the menu was the chicken wings. These wings are tossed in their signature sauce that tasted similar to a teriyaki. I caught on very quickly that these wings are a staple at Walt’s. The menu also has some new additions when it comes to appetizers including a spinach artichoke dip, mini pretzels with your choice of cheese, and a grande order of nachos. On the entrée side of the menu, they offer sandwiches, burgers, soups, and fish platters. There is something for whatever you’re in the mood for!
Beverages:
After talking with the general manager, she made it clear that Walt’s Spicy Bloody Mary is a fan favorite. This drink uses house infused pepper vodka that separates it from any other bloody mary. I was not able to try it, but I’ve heard it keeps people coming back. Walt’s also offers seventeen different kinds of beer on draft to ensure that you can order your favorite beer. Wine is also on the menu offered in both white and red. Beverages are never in shortage over at Walt’s!
Brunch:
In case you’re running behind on a Sunday morning, Walt’s offers brunch from 11-2. They serve pancakes, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy, and a few other items from a special menu. This is popular for family and friends to catch up and get some good breakfast food in them!
Atmosphere:
Wooden tables, dimmer lights, high ceilings, and a raised bar area all make Walt’s a relaxing place to eat. TV’s are also around the bar area to make sure that every customer is in on all the action. Walt’s is a popular place to be to watch Purdue sporting events.
Outdoor seating:
The outdoor patio area was my favorite part about the restaurant. This area offers gas lit lanterns, firepits, cozy lighting, and a relaxing view of a pond. Once a month, the outdoor patio becomes home to live music for people of all ages to enjoy.
Special events/ Entertainment:
With a seating capacity of 400 guests, Walt’s offers six spaces that you can rent for events and private parties. These spaces are perfect for any group from 10 to 120 people to come enjoy the restaurant. A unique offering at Walt’s is a special rentable room downstairs that is full of cast iron crank tables and a two-story wine cellar with over 2,000 bottles. I especially enjoyed the large video wall down there on which you can watch whatever your group would like.
Walt’s, which also has a Lafayette location, was the perfect place to take my family out to eat. From the food to the experience and everything in between, I knew my family was going to love it. Check out homeofpurdue.com for more fun experiences and good places to eat in the area.
