The orchard has a variety of locations on the grounds as well as a barn available for weddings. Have your ceremony outside then move in to the barn for your reception if you’d like. The grounds have been owned by descendants of the same family since 1855 and you will feel like you are part of the family when you visit. They can accommodate weddings up to 350 guests. Looking for a farm experience? Check out Exploration Acres where weddings can be held April through August, when the corn maze and pumpkin patch are not open to the public. Rent the barn, built in 1928 that can seat 250 people as well as fire pits, picnic tables, straw bales, oak barrels, the woods, country store and even hayrides if you’d wish. New modern climate controlled restrooms are also now available with rentals. Another farm experience would be The Farm at Prophetstown, located within Prophetstown State Park, dedicated to educate, encourage and promote small scale sustainable farming. Weddings up to 300 guests are welcome at The Farm. Most will utilize the green space in front of the barn with a tent and use the barn for dancing. This is a working farm and guests will be able to mingle with the farm animals such as chickens, sheep, hogs, horses and cows. You might run across the occasional friendly barn cat or farm dog as well. Looking for a more elegant outdoor event? Check out the Fowler House Mansion. Now utilized solely for weddings, meetings and events, the garden ceremony area is perfect for your elegant wedding and can host up to 180 guests. A terraced patio/stairway leads up from the garden to the mansion’s main patio and makes for a grand entrance or exit and a wonderful location for photos. Patio string lights are available April-October, there is also an operational Italian Patio Fountain and exterior house uplighting that help make photos grand.
