The Lafayette Farmers Market has been around for over 165 years! On Saturdays, the air in downtown Lafayette is filled with the smell of fresh garden flowers, baked goods, vegetables, fruits, plus honey, jams and jellies. Open from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Saturdays, May through October.

Local Indiana growers and merchants will be on hand at the market, sponsored by University Sustainability, located at Memorial Mall. Items expected at the market include fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, jams and jellies, fresh kettle-popped corn, homemade crafts, and annual and perennial plants. The number of growers and amount of produce on a given day depends on the natural progression of the growing season. Thursdays, May through July, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and Thursdays, August through October, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Kents Cucurbits is a family owned local business that offers a large variety of pumpkins, decorative squash, gourds, Indian corn and other miscellaneous fall decorations. They are the longest running agritourism fall attraction in the Lafayette, West Lafayette and surrounding areas. There is no charge for admission, and you can roam thru the 3 to 4 acre corn maze for a $3 fee. Kents also offers the gigantic 'Prizewinner' pumpkins, and every year have produced a few mammoth 'Cucurbits', the largest so far weighed in 2017 at 1360 pounds! U-pick blueberries only. The field is planted to bluegrass and mowed on a weekly basis so there is NEVER any mud. This is NOT a traditional blueberry farm, but more like picking in a city park. There is ample close parking. There is usually shade for picking since the picking hours are only M-F from 5:30 pm until 9 pm and Saturday 8 am until 12:00 pm. There are multiple varieties of high bush Michigan blueberries. The picking season lasts about 8 weeks starting in late June until late August. Picking is controlled by the row to provide the customer with the freshest berries. Customers are provided with a bucket with a plastic bag which they can use to take the berries home in. The Aquaculture Research Lab (ARL) at Purdue University has both indoor and outdoor facilities for the study of fish and aquatic organisms. The main lab building was rebuilt in 2006 after fire destroyed the original lab in 2004. The lab has been in existence since 1992. Indoor facilities consist of the following: Large Wet Lab – Approximately 4000 square feet, four environmental chambers, hot and cold well water drops with mixing capabilities, central air blower system, analytical lab, feed prep room/ lab, and a conference / small classroom.
