Boilermakers is the official moniker for the intercollegiate athletic teams of Purdue University. As is common with athletic nicknames, it is also used as colloquial designation of Purdue's students and alumni at large. The nickname is often shortened to "Boilers" by fans.

One of the top collegiate golf complexes in the nation with two 18-hole championship courses that are also open to the pubic. Ackerman Hills, with its hilly, forested terrain and narrow fairways is the more traditional, manicured course while the Kampen Course, designed by Pete Dye, is as friendly to wildlife as it is challenging to players.
