This English Gothic style home was built in 1851-1852 by Moses Fowler. He was a cattle baron, merchant and banker and wanted a home to reflect his social status. The home was remodeled in 1916 by Moses’ grandson, Cecil Fowler. It was purchased from him in the early 1940s by the Tippecanoe County Historical Association. The Fowler House and grounds are available year round for special events, weddings and other gatherings.

Historic Prophetstown is dedicated to showing, sharing and teaching about agriculture and horse powered farming. Discover the Native American Settlement and the Farmstead where valuable lessons are uncovered.

We are a real working farm. Although we use horse drawn farming, we practice modern day farming techniques.

We hope to educate, encourage and promote animal power combined with the latest equipment innovations in an effort to support sustainable small scale farming.

Explore the barn, barnyard, outbuildings, Indiana prairie and Native American Village. Meet the farm animals and maybe even milk a cow!

Purdue University was established in 1869 as Indiana’s land-grant institution. Classes began in 1874 with 39 students; enrollment today totals over 39,000 students. In addition to exponential growth in enrollment, the university has expanded in its campus amenities—art collections, campus buildings and grounds, musical programs and convocations to name a few.

Red Crown Mini-Museum "Walk-By Museum"

Step back in time and visit this unique “walk-by” Standard Oil Service Station. Built in 1928 this building is one of only seven “castle-designed” stations remaining. This station houses numerous displays of automobile and service station memorabilia as well as classic and antique cars.

The courthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places and is truly a treasure.

Built in the 1880s, this third local courthouse was requested by the citizens to be “of permanent and durable character”. Residents wanted a building that would show the pride they had in their country and filled 45 pages with instructions on how their wishes should be carried out.

Moses Fowler House
It has served the community for over 125 years and with the carefully researched and implemented $15 million renovation in the mid-1990s, it will do so for many years to come. A self-guided tour brochure is available online and group tours can be arranged through the Convention and Visitors Bureau (minimum of 10 people please). The courthouse also houses the permanent collection of ‘Round the Fountain Art Fair works.

Distance: 30 minutes northeast of Lafayette

Located in Canal Park along a section of restored canal, this new interactive Museum tells the story of the building of the Wabash & Erie Canal and how it affected Indiana and local the area during its 30 years of local operation. The Wabash & Erie Canal was the second longest canal in the world; the Grand Canal of China was the only one longer. Canal Park also has a historic village that is open for special events and programs throughout the year. Over 7 miles of historic trails have been developed for walking and biking; these include three National Register Sites connected with the canal.


Trails are open until dusk daily. Boat rides on mile-long stretch of the canal are offered weather permitting. Extended summer and fall hours at the Canal Interpretive Center.
